When a Midwest steel processing and distribution company needed reliable level measurement of their hydrochloric acid storage tanks, they turned to Flowline. Raw carbon steel sheet is formed, cut, pickled and coiled to order in a highly automated production line. During which, sheets are dipped into vats of HCI or pickle liquor, which removes rust, scale and oil from the metal surface. HCI is an extremely corrosive and vaporous acid, that’s difficult to store, handle and measure. When plant engineers requested a reliable level solution for their new HCI storage tanks, Flowline suggested our non-contact radar sensors with PTFE antenna shields that are unaffected by extreme vapor. The radar sensors provide continuous level data to the PLC, which monitors the tanks, pumps HCI to the vats and alarms for replenishment. Flowline is reliable level measurement. |
