When Canal Barge of Louisiana needed reliable level measurement of their pusher boat diesel fuel tanks, they turned to Flowline. The firm transports crude oil barges throughout the intercoastal waters of New Orleans, and up the Mississippi to Chicago. The boats are powered by twin Cummins KTA38 engines fed by 20,000 gallon diesel fuel tanks. The fuel level and other engine statistics are monitored and regularly uploaded to their operations center via satellite telemetry. There the team noticed that the previous float level sensors would intermittently stick in a false high level condition due to coating, and thus required costly ongoing maintenance. For this reason, Flowline suggested our non-contact ultrasonic level sensors that are ideal for diesel, water and greywater tank applications. The ultrasonic sensors provide reliable level data to the onboard and remote monitoring systems. Flowline is reliable level measurement. |
