When the San Diego Zoo needed reliable level measurement of their Gorilla Forest sump, they turned to Flowline. These gentle giants live in the mountainous rain forest, surrounded by vegetation, small streams, waterfalls or pools, and the sounds of water are constant. The zoo expertly recreates this habitat with interconnected gravity fed water features. Ultimately, water flows into a small pump station that continuously recirculates it back to the top feature. But the sump also receives a steady intake of leaves, twigs, sediment and turbulence that caused ongoing reliability and maintenance problems. For these reasons, Flowline suggested our ultrasonic level sensor installed in a stand pipe. The ultrasonic sensor provides reliable level data to the SCADA system, which monitors the sump and controls the VFD. Flowline is reliable level measurement. |
