When a Midwest commercial laundry plant needed reliable level measurement of their surfactant bulk tanks, they turned to Flowline. The firm picks up, washes and returns clean uniforms to hundreds of customers per day, and surfactants play a critical role in their wash process. Surfactants are binding agents that lift dirt and oil from fabrics and attach them to water for easy removal via the drain. But these same characteristics also make surfactants difficult to measure because they coat and clog contact level sensors. Further, surfactants also foam (see the flashlight view inside the tank) and thus attenuate ultrasonic level sensors. Last, in deploying new sensors, the plant engineer was concerned about installation and down time. For these reasons, Flowline suggested our 80-GHz radar sensors installed in our adhesive tank top fitting. Reliable measurement, simple installation. The non-invasive radar sensors provide reliable level data to the PLC which monitors the tanks and alarms for replenishment. Flowline is reliable level measurement. |
