Chemical Bulk Storage Tank Radar Level Measurement

When a California water and wastewater treatment solutions firm needed reliable level measurement of their chemical tanks, they turned to Flowline. The company blends, delivers and dispenses proprietary chemicals to municipal customers. Most tanks are outdoors and thus exposed to temperature extremes and weather. The I&C technician explained that some chemicals outgas heavily during summer, and this caused previous ultrasonic level sensors to become intermittent due to vapor attenuation. Additionally, during and after tank filling, certain chemicals foam, and this too created instability. Going forward, they needed a reliable non-contact sensor that’s unaffected by vapor, foam and corrosion. For these reasons, Flowline suggested our 80-GHz radar sensors. The radar sensors provide reliable level data to the SCADA which monitors the tanks are alarms for chemical replenishment. Flowline is reliable level measurement.
