When an Arizona defense manufacturer needed reliable level measurement of their cooling tower recirculation sumps, they turned to Flowline. With summer temperatures at 110º F., evaporation and the replenishment of water is a constant challenge. To combat it, spent process water is captured and pumped to a below grade sump room that refills each tower. The reclaimed water contains particulates that overtime builds deposits in the sump. There the operator complained that a prior conductance level switch had failed due to scaling and caused the room to twice flood. For this reason, Flowline suggested our non-contact ultrasonic level sensor installed in a standpipe to dampen the turbulence and isolate the sensor from the surface foam. The ultrasonic sensor provides reliable level data to the PLC, which monitors the sump and controls the recirculation process. Flowline is reliable level measurement. |
